Recently, a team from the Litigation practice area of BMAJ led by partner Jorge Bofill, worked constantly with the Constitution, Legislation and Justice Committee of the Senate in the drafting of the current law 20.393 that imposes CRIMINAL LIABILITY TO LEGAL PERSONS IN THE CRIMES OF MONEY LAUNDERING, TERORIST FINANCING AND BRIBERY, published in Diario Oficial on December 2, 2009.

The firm also has a strong commitment in matters of public interest.  Members of the firm have participated in negotiations of Chilean Free Trade Agreements, held key roles in advising legislative commissions on several important issues such as the reform of the Chilean criminal procedural system, among others.  The firm’s attorney’s have also advised the Chilean ministries of Finance, Justice and Energy as well as the European Commission and the World Trade Organization.   Many of BMAJ’s professionals have teaching positions at Universidad de Chile, Pontificia Universidad Católica and other major Chilean universities.  Likewise, BMAJ actively promotes participation of its members in Pro Bono activities, particularly in conjunction with Chile’s Fundación Pro Bono.
